Getting to know Paul Ashton
Renowned UK Hairdresser Paul Ashton has built up an international reputation as a world class stylist, educator and session worker. Hailing from Liverpool, UK, and apart from building a very busy salon clientele, Paul was also Toni and Guy's creative and technical director at their academies in Beijing and the Philippines. Paul is well known for his demonstrations both on large stages and professional seminars, Paul is dedicated to bringing his skills to a wide audience.
Why Hairdressing I have always been interested in fashion, and Hair especially interested me. I remember visiting a career’s officer after leaving school, saying I wanted to be a Hairdresser, but living in Liverpool at that time, they recommended construction work as a best career job opportunity. I tried it for a month, but was back at the career office insisting that Hairdressing was the industry, I wanted to be in. In due course, I joined Glemby International and completed my apprenticeship before moving on to opening my own salon and ultimately settling down with Toni and Guy in Kings Road, London. An opportunity arose that gave me the prospect to join Toni and Guy in Beijing, this was a remarkable experience for me to learn about Chinese culture, perfect my knowledge in working with Asian hair, and I was very much involved in training the new generation of Chinese Hairdressers. I have now been in Hong Kong for the past 7 years, and call Hong Kong home. I am very excited to Join TRIBE and look forward to further advance my creative skills within this new platform.
How long have you been in this industry? My passion for hairdressing has not waned over the past 20 years or so, and I still love all aspects of hairdressing in the creation of new haircuts, colours and shapes. I pride myself on being progressive and a consummate professional.
Customer service I strongly believe in building a professional relationship with clients, in my mind, it is important to make them feel at ease, for me to understand their life style, their needs and how to enhance their natural style and attractiveness. Consulting with a client before any process is imperative to understanding what they want. It is then up to me, to give professional advice and create something beautiful. Trends for 2017 Warm natural tones are very popular at the moment, Hong Kong women are sophisticated and well-travelled. Mid length textured cuts are fashionable this season, with an emphasis on texture, volume and movement. Golds, warm brunettes and sun kissed highlights are most in demand.
